Don"t have option to shut down Guest OS Sometimes

Does anyone know why this would happen. I have a script that I run that
backsup my VMs and for some reasons sometimes the option to shut down the
guest OS isn't avail through the admin site nor does the script work. Any
ideas? Latest Additons are installed. So far its just on one of the VMs
running on my server.

Any help would be appreciated.

To shutdown the VM in this fashion - we rely on running a command
through our VM Additions service. If this service is not running - this
option will not be available. Further more - shutdown is not guaranteed
- as Windows may stop the shutdown for some reason.

Is there any reason why you could not save state them instead?
