The app pool keeps crashing in IIS every time you try to view the
virtual server's administrative site. anybody know why or how to fix?
i've tried to reset the app pool's password. i've reset permission on
the directories. i've reinstalled it a bunch of times and nothing seems
to fix this. any ideas?

I know you fixed it by reinstallation, but next time, you can easily look at
the web server log to figure out what is going on.

And when you get a "Service Unavailable", there is an associated event log
entry that gives info on what is going on. Since you have a 64bit machine,
my guess is a bitness issue (Search for WOW64 on my blog):

I fixed it by removing .NET Framework 1.1 (.NET Framework 2.0 x64 had been installed for some time), and performing the procedure to enable 64-bit described in this article:
