Stopping and starting virtual servers from command line

I was wondering if there is a way to stop and stop virtual servers from the
command line? I am currently doing this with GSX server to make complete
backups of servers while it is stopped and then start the server again. I
like to backup the whole server while it is not running every week for a
fast way to restore.

The easiest way to do this would be to write a VBScript that you could
launch from the command line.
