Installation Problems

I'm having problems installing Virtual Server 2005 on a Windows XP SP2
workstation with two processors. The installation hangs and when I reboot it
appears that at least some of the installation was successful. The two
services were installed and it showed up on the installed programs list. But
in the interest of trying to get it right I attempted to uninstall the
application whick also hung. Now it appears to be uninstalled, no services
running and it does appear in the program list. However when I try to install
it again I get the following message:

"Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 Setup Wizard could not complete installation.
Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 setup was interrupted. Your system has not been
modified. To install this program at a later time, please run the
installation again."

Which of course fails with the same message the next time I run it. I've
tried going throught the registry and removing all references to Virtual
Server but that didn't make any difference. If I right mouse click on the
"msi" file and select uninstall or repair it says the application is not
installed.

What steps should I take to get a successful installation?

When am installing Virtual Server 2005 in HP Proliant server the operating system is 2003 server, it showing error (Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 setup interrupted. Your system has not been modified. To install this programme at a later time, please run the installation again). this is the third time installation. Twice i didnt get any errors.

i hope this is not a hardware issue, some software issue, what is the issue

I had the same problem.

There's a DCOM configuration issue for SQL Server Notification services in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836724 that looks like the same error.

Applying the fix in that KB article resolved the problem for Virtual Server 2005 for me.
