I have a script that i run on my normal servers to restart them on a weekly
basis. But what is the best way to handle restarting a Host Server with
Virtual servers running on it. Do I create a script to shutdown the Virtual
Servers first... and then run a script to restart the Host Virtual server,
and then is there another script to run to start the virtual servers after a
restart of the Host?

OR

Should i just restart the Host, and it will automatically shutdown and
restart the virtual servers???

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You *could* run a script to cleanly shutdown (and restart) your virtual
machines before and after rebooting the host, however Virtual Server has an
option configurable for each VM where you can specify the action to be taken
when the service is stopped: shutdown, save state, or turn off. I'd suggest
you set them all to do either of the first two.

Whilst I think about it, one not-strictly-related tip for anyone using
Virtual Server clustering: set the above option to "turn off", unless you
like the occasional corrupted VM after failover... ;-)
