vpcSP1 saved state break after upgrading VS to R2??

i have vpc sp1 and virtual server 2005 on the same xp machine
my vpc had one machine in saved state and so does the virtual server.
before upgrading virtual server to r2 i shut down the virtual server guests.
(but not the saved guest on vpc)
and to my surprise, after upgrade complited, when trying to restore the vpc
guest, i got CPU error from vpc, the guest will now reset.
why??
