VM Host Unresponsive, VMs Fine

Source: microsoft.public.virtualserver

Message:

Hello,

I have about 10 VMs running on a VM Host with dual dual-core Opertons and
16GBs of RAM. The VMs are running perfectly, however the host can not be
reached through the VMRC client, remote desktop, VNC, or even the console
(just shows a blank screen and is unresponsive to inputs). Also shares do
not work and the server can not be connected to through any MMC snap-in such
as Computer Management or Event Viewer. The host is pingable and that is
all. This seems to happen every couple weeks and the only way to fix the
problem is to reboot the server. The host OS is Windows 2003 SP1 fully
patched and the VS version is Standard Edition R2. Resource allocation has
been left at the default settings - could this be a problem?

If you have any ideas on what is causing the host to become unresponsive,
please reply.

Thanks,

Anthony.
