Hello all,

I am a newbie to programming w/ COM API, I am using Visualstudio 2005 Visual
basic. I have been working on a program to allow easy access to virtual machines
we have running on 2 of our virtual servers. The app allows to shutdow,
startup, turnoff and reset one or all of the virtual machines running on
the server you connect to.

My app works fine if virtual server is also installed on the system with
my app. I need to get my app working on a system that does not have virtual
server installed on it. See Error Below

W/O Virtual server installed I get the following error:

This looks like a DCOM activation issue to me.
Do you have this code snippet in your app:
Dim typeVSClass As Type
Dim typeDCOM As Type
Dim objDCOM As Object

typeVSClass = GetType(VMVirtualServerClass)
typeDCOM = Type.GetTypeFromCLSID(typeVSClass.GUID,
remoteVirtualServerName, True)
objDCOM = Activator.CreateInstance(typeDCOM)

virtualServer = CType( _
Marshal.CreateWrapperOfType(objDCOM, typeVSClass), _
VMVirtualServerClass)

The local virtual server and remote virtual server(where your app is not on)
are activated differently. For local VS, you can just do:
New VMVirtualServerClass
but for remote server, you need code snippet above.
