Defragment dynamically expanding disks or go fixed disk?

Source: microsoft.public.virtualserver
Sent: 02/06/2006
From: Rockie Nikkila
Message:

If I setup a virtual server with Dynamically expanding disk, can the Vhd be
defragmented on line, or does the virtual machine need to be shut off? This
will determine if I use Dynamic or fixed virtual disk.
This is a production server with 3-146Gbt drives setup as Raid5, where the
guests will reside. The Host is setup on 2 36Gbt mirrored drives, all scsi.
Or is there may a better way for me to set this up. I am open for ideas and
suggestions. Thanks
