Precompacting a disk for a Linux VM?

Source: microsoft.public.virtualserver

From: Jonathan Horne
Message:

ive read several threads concerning inspecting/compacting disks, and they do
not change size. the replies to those threads point to using the
precompactor.iso, and they all seem to reply back "thanks, that did the
trick". ive not tried it yet on a windows VM yet, but i am after i finish
this post, cleaning up that host, in just a moment.

however, i was wondering if there is any sort of way for making the compact
work on a linux VM? i get to the point where after ive used a linux VM for a
while, ill just dump it for a newly created one. not the best way to go i
know, but i am wondering if there is a way to keep the disk size under
control for a linux VM?

thanks,
Jonathan
