Gettng Started with Hyper-V Server2008

Message:

i built a new server on which i installed Hyper-V Server 2008. I am having
troulbe creating a new Guest OS (SBS2008). In fact, i I cannot even connect
to the computer with Hyper-V Manager.

WHile I intend for this SBS2008 to replace my existing 2003 enterprise
server i have not created or joined any domain, so it is still part of the
default WORKGROUP.

I realize that since there is no GUI I cannot manage it locally and I need
to do it remotely.
I installed the Vista update on my notebook. my notebook is part of my
existing domain.
when i run the Hyper-V Manager, it says "Cannot connect to the RPC service
on computer 'HYPERV'. Make sure your RPC service is running.
I checked and the RPC service is running.
i added an entry in my hosts file witht he ip address
i added a user to both machines (HYPERV and Vista) with the same ID and PW

Are there other steps i need to do to get this to work. I have spend days on
this already.
thanks
m
