I have suddenly lost connectivity to a Windows Server 2003 virtual server
which worked perfectly for several weeks. The host OS is 64 bit Vista
Ultimate and I can connect to the server using Virtual Machine Remote Control
Client. I was able to remote desktop to the server, but this is no longer
possible.

The server reports that a network cable is unplugged and when I try to add a
new network adapter from the Virtual Server Administrative web site, the only
option in the "Connected to:" drop down is "Not connected". The "external
network" and "internal network" options are no longer displayed. When I look
in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Shared Virtual Networks there are 2 vnc files:
Internal Network.vnc, and External Network (NVIDIA nForce 10_100_1000 Mbps
Networking Controller ).vnc.

Permissions to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Shared Virtual Networks are:
Everyone has full control.

I have also tried removing and adding a network adaptor, restarting the
Virtual Server Service and reinstalling Virtual Server but none of this has
worked - any help will be appreciated.

You may have to re-add the existing Network adapter. VS2005 seems to randomly drop virtual network adapters from VMs.
