Intermittent Connectivity problem with VMRC

Hi there,

I have a strange intermittent connectivity problem specifically with the
VMRC client.

I am running 64bit Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 with the KB 948515 update
applied on 4 blade servers each running 64bit Windows Server 2003 Data
Center. There are numerous virtual machines configured with several running
at any given point in time (but not normally all of them).
I am running Virtual Machine Manager 2007 on one of the blades and using
this to manage all of the virtual servers and the VMs configured across them.

A lot of the virtual machines have been configured with Remote Desktop
Connection enabled.

In the morning I will be able to connect to the virtual machines using the
VMRC client without any problems. Then at around lunch time and during the
afternoon I will no longer be able to connect consistently. One moment I will
connect the next it will fail. This failure will occur within the VMM and
when running VMRC directly and even when attempting to access the VMs through
the Administrators website. The website itself however will work fine.

I have even tried VMRCPlus. Here I can get a list of the virtual machines on
a server and click on a virtual machine in the list. Doing so gives details
of the virtual machine including a small image showing the VM desktop (as you
would get through VMRC). However when I click on the image to access the
remote console it comes back "No Connection" just like the other tools.

Note: All of these tools will work in the morning.

Wherever Remote Desktop Connection is enabled I can always connect through
this (morning or afternoon). I can alway access any shares defined on the
virtual machines. I can always access any software servers (e.g. databases)
running within the virtual servers. It is just VMRC that fails.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as the ITS people here know nothing
about Virtual Server and VMRC.
