Running Virtual Server 2005 R2 on a Windows 2003 standard server sp2. One of
the virtual guest has a disk / .vhd that is set to dynamically expanding 16
gb.
The file shows on the host as 100 GBs. When logon to the virtual the drive
appears as 16gb with 8gb free. I've tired to compact the disk but it doesn't
affect the size. The virtual guest is a Office Communicator server with all
the applications installed to the d drive. I forget the actual IM server
role name but it not the backend server, federation or web interface server.
I believe it's the server for the full client.
Any help on how to correct this issue would be appreciated

YOu should exclude you rVHD files from your AV program and backup
program on your host.

Before you compact you need to defrag and precompact inside the VM.

Thanks for reply Steve. After posting my message I located the fix in
another post. Which worked. And yes we are using Backup Exec and I've
excluded the directorties virtual disk and config dirs.
