Let us first venture to define business knowledge management then go
on to discuss why we need it now. The knowledge component of any
business is as important to the business as the knowledge of how to
run the business. Many sales people will be taught about the features
of the products they are going out to sell, and how the product will
be beneficial to their prospective customers. The knowledge about the
product must be complete as also the sales person's confidence in the
product. This is the knowledge component of the business so far as the
ales person is concerned and it must be complete in all aspects if the
sales person is to successfully sell the product.

When it comes to the management of the business the top level company
bosses must have complete business knowledge to effectively run the
company. They must learn to treat the business knowledge component of
the business very seriously, which is and explicit concern of the
business and is reflected in the strategy of the management.
