An hour to create a 40GB Fixed VHD?

I am just starting out with VS2005 and so I'm wondering if it's normal to
take like an hour to create a 40GB fixed VHD. Seems kind of long to me.

It's being created on a mirrored array of 2 x 500GB SATA drives on a 3Ware
9650SE hardware raid controller which should be pretty fast.
