VS2005 Disaster Recovery

I am wondering about Guest OS disaster recovery and can't find out if this is
even possible.
I have 2 Server 2003R2-64bit physical servers and each has VS2005 with 2
2003R2-32-bit Guest OS's, and I need to provide some DR for the Guest OS's.

If I have one physical server "go down", I would like to be able to start
those Guest OS's on the other server, but if the VHDs are stored on the one
that is down, i am out of luck.

Can I store the VHDs on a fileshare and open it up from there? Or will i
experience a performance hit because of the network overhead?

I have read that the VHDs should be on a disk that isn't the system disk,
and away from the swapfile, but does that mean that it still has to be on a
physically attached drive? I have FC disks on the Host OS systems, but it
doesn't help if the host is down as I would have to mount the drives on the
other system before I could use them. I am looking for a simplier way than
that.

Thanks
