Hey all,

We would like to migrate all our DCs from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003
server.

At the same time, we would like to take advantage of the virtualisation
using Ms Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 or VMWare Server.

We have 4 separated sites linked with 10mbps leased lines. Each site
should have maximum one virtual DC and one virtual file server for a
maximum of 70 users. The physical servers hosting the virtual machines
are dual 32 bit processor with 3GB ram EEC, raid 5 SCSI disks….

QUESTIONS :

Can we put all the DC (all the FSMO) on virtual machines?
Can we shut down de V.M. for the backup?
What are the problems we could run into?
What tools are available to migrate the users, groups GPO and the rest.
Is it possible to run M.S. Exchange in a V.M. ?
And SQL Server 2005?
Any experiences (good or bad) to share?

P.S. : We need to virtualises our DCs to take make the best use of the
available resources.

Gilson E.
