Documentation for DEC/Intel 21140 advanced settings

Source: microsoft.public.virtualserver

Message:

During troubleshooting of poor network performance on some of my virtualized
file servers, I had a look at the Advanced properties of the NIC (which
Server 2003 detects as 'Intel 21140-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
(Generic)' in my VMs.)

I'm having trouble tracking down documentation which would explain the
impact of changing properties such as 'Burst Length,' 'Interrupt
Mitigation,' 'Recieve Buffers,' etc. Can anyone provide me with a link to
documentation for the driver?

Perhaps more importantly, do any of these parameters make any difference
with the virtualized NIC at all? I'd rather find out before I waste a bunch
of time testing different settings.

Thanks,

Chuck
