My goal is similar to several other posts here so I partly have my
question answered. Basically I want to install a domain controller on
a virtual machine using a internal virtual network. I also have the
loopback adapter enabled on the host machine. However, when I run
dcpromo on the guest it binds to the loopback adapter. The problem
that I anticipate here is that other guest vm on this host won't be
able to join the domain because the dc is bound to the loopback. The
virtual adapter on the guest that's attached to the loopback has
static ip in the same subnet as the host loopback. I want all vm to be
in the domain but not the host and still maintain connectivity from
the host via remote desktop conn.

That should be OK. On the NIC which connects to the host, make sure that
it doesn't register its IP address in your DNS. I would also disable Netbios
over TCP/IP. You can always connect to the host with remote desktop using an
IP address, so you don't really need name resolution on the loopback
network.
