I have a Dell PowerEdge 6650, which has the dual onboard broadcom gig nic's,
I am installing 4 Intel Pro/1000 MT adapters and the teaming software. I have
2 questions though.

1) I can only seem to get 1 nic to work on the guest os, so I get no benefit
of teams

2) I also only see the nics as 100MB and not Gig.

Any Ideas?

On the Virtual Server web admin screen, make sure you create virtual
networks for all the NIC cards in your host. If the extra NIC cards are
only for VM use, unbind them from host services, except for virtual machine.
Then on the VM configuration, add extra NICs if a VM is supposed to have
more than one.
It's a virtual machine, adapter is an emulated DEC 21114 ethernet chip,
which only supported 100mb as the fastest speed. There are other anomalies
in virtual hardware that show up when you query WMI. You do not see the
underlying host hardware specs except for CPU type.

1. I believe Ben Armstrong has said recently that NIC Teaming is not
supported on Virtual Server 2005.
2. This is because Virtual Server only emulates the DEC 21114 (maximum
compatibility). However, it does not prevent GuestOS from getting Gigabit
performance from these "supposed DEC 21114" virtual NIC. People have
empirical evidence that the GuestOS gets Gigabit performance (minus
acceptable losses due to emulation) even though the GuestOS claims it is not
Gigabit.

In other words, Virtual Server is NOT about emulating the physical hardware
of your Host machine into the Guest machine. Virtual Server emulates a fixed
virtual hardware set (specified in documentation) and runs your software on
it. Thus, you won't find any USB ports, sound card, nor fancy video card
inside the GuestOS, even if you have them in the Host OS, and it is
by-design.
