Server 2003 Host with Multiple NICs

I have a host Server 2003 with Virtual Server 2005 R2 intalled. The host
hardware has one built-in and four PCI NICs. I have two guest systems, Server
2003 and XP Pro. The host is behind a firewall with all NICs connected to a
switch. Each NIC has a static addr on the LAN. The host system is using the
built-in NIC. I want to associate a seperate NIC to each guest system. I
can't seem to get this to work. The guests can't access the LAN or the
Internet. Any help would be appreciated.

Ah. Your post and reviewing the admin doc again makes it clearer why no
address is assigned to the PCI NIC and you're right, I don't need to use the
PCI NICs or the swithc, it's overcomplicating things. Thanks for your help.

Having said that, I don't think that this is what you want to do. In
Virtual Server, each NIC is associated with a virtual network. If you
associate a vm with a particular NIC on the host, it is not in the same
network as another vm linked to a different NIC (or the host). Normally the
NICs would not be plugged into the same switch. The networks would be
isolated. You need IP routers to link them together.

If you want the host and the vms to be in the same network, you only
need one NIC.
VMNS will separate the traffic. The host and each guest will appear to be
separate machines on the same LAN.
