Just passing along about a network issue we had with a VS machine being =
tested with a SQL Server install.

For many days the VS worked fine, no problems, created VMs, copied VMs, =
etc. All looked good. But when we tried to install SQL Server into one =
of the VMs, the server hung half way through the install. Access to the =
VS was down; network was not available. Had to use KVM to get to the =
console and reboot it. I thought it might be a VM issue, so created a =
clean W2K3 image and it looked ok.

Started the install again, and it hung a bit farther along. Got to the =
console via KVM again, and tried a reboot but it hung trying to go down. =
Had to have someone in the Computer Center push the big red button. =
Then the builder of this machine mentioned that it had just been moved =
into a new system room and we should recheck the network connections. =
Duh.

Network connections were set to "Auto" and the switches were set to =
100/Full. No negotiation, which caused network mismatches. We reset =
the network cards to 100/Full and the SQL install went through in a few =
minutes.

Just a thought. Hope it might someone.
