Virtual Network Performance Problems - Psched 14103

Source: microsoft.public.virtualserver
Sent: 02/27/2005
From: "Berhard Wagner" <(email address - cut out)>
Message:

Hi, after successfully transfering my physical machines into virtual,
everything seems ok, but:
When I do a lot of network traffic, like backing up a virtual machine on the
host, so there's near 100% network usage, the physical (!) machine begins to
slow down, graphical performance slows dramatically. This leads to an error
in the virtual machine W2K3 PSched Error 14103 QoS [Adapter 92369blablabla]
The netcard driver failed the query for OID_Gen_Link_Speed, and the network
connection is gone...

It's not dependent on the physical network card, because it happens with
Broadcom (did already the hacks), Realtek AND the MS Loopback Adapter. Apart
from this, when copying files from the host to another physical PC,
performance of the host also slows down. Further experiments show that when
shutting the virtual machines down, and then copying the files through the
physical machines, no loss of performance is recognized.

HW is a P4 3.0Ghz, so ist must be fast enough for this, Network Speed is
100Mb/s.

Any hints?
