My server isn't in production so I can test it tonight I guess ( I would
love if it was ;) . Can you point me to the Intel NIC that you purchased to
get it working?
This is now the 3rd new server I will have to return to DELL today because
of either issues or misconfiguration. I'll have to send this server back if
this issue isn't resolved today!! GRRRRRRRR!!!
Doesn't Broadcom test their crap?

I've not looked at it yet, allthough I suspect it's the same as the driver
Broadcom released a week ago (which doesn't solve the problem). But we can

I have a case with CSS, but it's not going to get resolved immediately as
the one server I have with these nics is in production - the work window is

I had the same problem with Xen on Fedora with the same network card I followed these instructions http://wiki.ncsa.uiuc.edu/wiki/Dell_PE1950_NIC_Firmware_Workaround and it fixed the issue. The MS guys are having the same issue so they are going to try the fix and let me know if it works I will post an answer when I know something.

Message:Thanks, guys. Broadcom can provide a fix that accomplishes the same thing -
but from within windows.
I can confirm that disabling IPMI on the Broadcom NetXtreme II NICs is a
valid workaround to this problem.
Here is one procedure:
http://wiki.ncsa.uiuc.edu/wiki/Dell_PE1950_NIC_Firmware_Workaround
The procedure provided to me by Broadcom is done from within windows, can be
done via RDP, and doesn't require a restart, allthough there is a very short
network disconnect. I don't yet have permission from Broadcom to distribute
the files, but I've requested they make them publicly available.

I was able to resolve the issue by turning off IPMI management on the NIC.
Tools Download the Broadcom utility from dell ftp site.
ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/network/Bcom_L...lities_A00.exe
<ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/network/Bcom_LAN_NX2_26_DOSUtilities_A00.exe>
And downloading a bootdisk from dell site ftp://ftp.dell.com/utility/
cdenab.exe this creates a boot floppy.
I then used Roxio to Create a boot cd and copied the Userdiag from the
upacked Bcom_LAN_NX2_26_DOSUtilities_A00.exe
Boot from the CD and chose otption 1 to load CDROM drivers.
Type C: to move to cdrom drive
Type cd userdiag to move to folder on cd
Type uxdiag -ver shows the Network cards note the number on the left. (1
or 2) Type uxdiag -c <devnum> -mfw <1/0>
devnum= number of affected NIC (1 or 2)
mfw= enables/ disables fw 1 = Enable 0 = Disable
type uxdiag -ver note that under configuration is set to Auto only not MF,
Auto
reboot.

Message:Finding this post saved me a lot of time. I thought I was configuring the
virtual network wrong. Turning off IPMI took care of the problem. Thank you!
