OK..so after banging my head against the wall for a few days, I realized my
problem...
I am trying to use VSMT to migrate a handful of development servers to VS.
Unfortunately each of these servers has a 160 GB drive. Each server only has
about 20-30 GB of data on the drive, but I cant do the migration because VS
doesnt like the drive size.

I have tried to edit all of the xml files that list the drive size, and I
have been successful as far as caputing and creating the VM, but when I try
to deploy it fails. It looks like the deploy.xml is referencing the actual
geometry of the drive, so I dont know how I can change that..

Any thoughts?

Hi Greg
ADS has the drive size shrinkage limitation, it was 'designed for
images to be deployed onto a larger volume than the size of the volume
captured'. The limit on VS IDE drive size then prevents the image
deployment.

I haven't done this but it may be worth a try to get the new VM running
only a SCSI disk before deployment phase. This disk setup will need to
be greater than 160Gb (dynamically expanding will save using real disk
space). You may need to adjust the Deploy XML file to find the disk,
and the deployment will be real slow as the SCSI virtual machine
additions won't be loaded.

Once complete, use a disk tool to shrink the partition - assuming you
dont want to do this on the source servers first.
