Unable to see both Host and VMS on the network at the same time

I've installed Virtual Server Beta 2 on a dual homed Windows 2003 server with
the latest service packs and created a VM also running Windows 2003 server.
Before I turn on the VMS the host server can see and be seen on the network.
Once I turn on the VMS the host can no longer be seen on the network but the
VMS can. The VMS can ping the host and get replies but nothing else on the
network van see the host, until then VMS is turned off.

I've unbound the NIC that the host is using from Virtual Server and the 2
machines have totally differnt ip addresses. When the VMC is active I also
cannot get to the Virtual Server Website from the Host.

begun to load.

I can then access the virtual server via the VMRC while sitting at the host.
The 2 machines are not duplicating ip addresses. The rest of the network sees
the virtual server but can no longer see the host. If I shut down the virtual
server the host comes back on the network and the admin website comes back
online.

Multihomed servers can cause all sorts of odd problems.

If you want the host to use one NIC and the guest to use the other, make
sure that they do not interact. On the "host" NIC, clear the check mark in
the VMNS box so that the guest cannot see it. On the other NIC, clear all
the boxes except VMNS so that it is not seen by the host. Host and guest
should then look like two single homed machines on the LAN.

That is very odd. Something is screwed up badly. I would check the MAC
address of the NIC in the vm. See if it is all zeros or if it has the same
value as the host NIC. The only other thing I can think of is that it is a
problem with the NIC driver in the host OS.

I have the same problem with my VS. I tray install new driver for network
card- i doesn't work. Mayby its problem with model card which isn't
comatybility with VM software:(, i have this model network card on my host
system(Win 2003 R2):
Broadcom BCM5708C NetXtreme II GigE (NDIS VBD Client)
Could you tell me which model card you have?
