Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 Beta2 problem w/ Vista RC1

Source: microsoft.public.virtualserver

From: Big Joe
Message:

I installed some upgrades the other day and now I have no response when
trying to enter the password on the initial Vista screen. Once, after
clicking quite a lot, I got in but then had the same unresponsiveness.
Lets see if I can recreate the order I upgraded; Virtual Server 2005 R2
SP1 Beta1 to Beta2, on line Windows Update of Vista build 538X then upgraded
Vista to RC1 (took half-a-day and the virtual hard drive is now 14.5 GB!)
then installed new virtual additions. Oh, the host machine is XP SP2, fully
patched and a I have no problems with a virtual XP SP2. There's nothing
particularly glaring in the event viewer.
It must have something to do w/ additions but if I can't access the OS
then I think I'm pretty stuck. Do I have any choice but to reinstall
everything? Ouch!
