Multiple Virtual Drives For Better Performance?

Message:

Is there any benefit to separating pieces of an application to separate
virtual disk drives in a virtual guest server. For example, normally on a
SQL server we would separate the Database from the Transacation Logs. Does
this still hold true in a virtual environment? Currently our virtual host
servers are connected to an HP EVA 5000 disk array over 2GB fiber.
