Problem installing additions

LS,

I'm having a problem installing Virtual Machine Additions on Windows Server
2003 SP1.
When I choose Install Virtual Machine Additions (13.552) from the server
properties window in Virtual Server 2005 R2 and I open the selected server, a
installation process is started. After some seconds a messagebox appears with
the information that the setup was interrupted before the installation was
completed.

I don't know the history of the windows server 2003 sp1, but maybe another
installation was teminated before and thats way it doesn't work anymore (old
reg. keys)?

Anu ideas about this problem?

virus attack on the guest operating system. The virus kept causing the
Addition installation to fail. Would this also apply to your scenario?

I was getting the same error. Finally I found a suggestion on microsoft's website relating to a different but similar error that had to do with ongoing device discover. I discovered i had a couple of devices that had errors in device manager (this was a physical-2-virtual conversion). Once I "uninstalled" them from device manager the VM additions install worked.
