Want to know if this is possible:
have several NT4 servers that have about 100gb of data. I'd like to take
them off my production servers and store them as virtual servers on another
larger Physical Box. First, can I clone NT4 servers into VirtualServer 2005
as separate Virtual Servers? Next, if that is possible, how can I manage
each of the virtual machines centrally, is that possible? Finally, since the
data on these servers are so large, is it appropriate to clone the entire
server or should I just restore the data from backup tape? Or, is there a
better way? All of these servers will still need to be operational and will
be used often

Yes, it is possible. There are several paths that lead to where you want to
go to.
- You could opt to install a Windows server with ADS and use VSMT to
virtualize your machines.
- You could attach your harddisks to new virtual machines as linked disks in
order to get the data and virtualize your machines.
- You can use a third party tool to virtualize your machines.

All methods will mean downtime for the machines and you should read into all
methods , and then pick which one you like best, there is no good or bad here.

For central management of your virtual machines Microsoft is currently
working on System Center Virtual machie Manager. In the mean time you might
find that Virtual servers web interface plus some extra scripts like in VSDM
might suite your needs just fine. It really depends on how many hosts you
need for your VM's, plus which administration tasks you want to perform
centrally.

As to wether to clone the machines or the restore the data I would say to
clone the system and restore the data, but I say this mainly to keep downtime
for your NT server as low as possible.
