Here's my problem:

I've set up a two node cluster using Host Clustering for Virtual Server 2005
R2. Works fine for two of the virtual servers. The third started giving me
trouble on hte vnc whenever I moved it between the two node, which are
absolutely identical. I saw a couple of errors related to the Ethernet
loading, and I discovered that I had some phantom adapters running around.
The adapters reenumerated themselves after a shutdown, so the three intel
adapters are now #5,6,7,8. The old #1,2,3,4 are now getting a Virtual Network
Services Driver attached to them whenever I instal VS2005. How do I get rid
of them? I cannot uninstall in device manager.

Virtual guest trys to use the nic card that is dedicated to the cluster
heartbeat. does anyone know how to remove this card from virtual server from
using it.

never mind everyone i found the solution
just uncheck VMS under the nic card setting on the physical server.

I have discovered, after fully uninstalling VS2005R2, and reinstalling, that
the NICs in the two servers are using different identifiers. When I set
Server A to use Intel ... #7 (There are 2 Intel Dual Ports, #5-8) and then
moved the group and added the vnc on Server B, it worked ok, but came up as
Intel #6 (Both servers have Intels listes as #5-8). Can anyone help me to
decipher the vnc file and preferably, reassign the NIc identifiers somehow?

Hallo Jeff and all others with this problem,

we have found a solution for this problem.

The solution is that you must change the gateway type not in the *.vnc
file, but you have to make the changes in an *.xml file. You found this
file under:
01. %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application data\Microsoft\Virtual Server there
is the file options.xml.
02. You must stop the Virtual Server service and then delete the file.
03. After you have deleted this file you can start the Virtual Server
again and the *.xml file will be reproduced.
04. Now you must wait a while. After, i think 15 minutes, you can stop
the virtual server services again.
05. Then you must open the options.xml file with an editor. There are
the following lines to edit

06. By the network adapter that you want to use for the Virtual
Clusternetwork you have to change the number at the line with the
following string: <id type="integer">xxxx</id> (xxxx stands for a
Number of the Gateway Type in the vnc file). We have changed this
number to a high number for example 1000, so that there are no
collisions with other network adapters. After that you can save the
*.xml file.
07. Make the file write protected an then start the Virtual Server
Service. (to force these settings into virtual server)
08. When the service is up and running, you can create your virtual
network connection as is described in the documentation from Microsoft.
09. Once more stop and start the virtual server service to remove the
write protection flag from the options.xml file.
10. Repeat these steps for the other nodes.

11. Then you are finish and you can test the Failover.

When the failover works fine you can take a break and drink a beer.

One hint for a second problem:
When you have problems on one node with the cluster service an the
error is something like "Resource monitor ...." You must give the
resource "Generic Script" the privilege to start in his own resource
monitor.

Now everything must work really fine when it isn't so please post it
here.
