Install new Guest Server OS take a real long time

This may be a configuration problem. I have view the best practicies and
using all the them except the seperate disk for VS files.

any suggestions.

Envirmoment:

Intel Server Dual Zeon 3.2
4 gig ram
raid 5 277gigs
2 1gig Intel Nics

Host Server installed OS:
Windows 2003 SP1 64bit
Partition C: 277g

Guest Server:
Windows 2003 STD SP1
1024gig
155gig VD

Quations:
1. If you use and ISO hwo to you get the guest to boot the iso image to
install the OS?
2. is the SCSI shunt driver built in or do you have do download the drive.
If so were do you download it from?

3. If you do not mind. How do get a guest server to use a dedicated NIC and
not the Virtual network?

Couple of questions here; are you using an ISO image or a physical
CD/DVD for the install? If the latter, try the former. Are you
installing to a virtual SCSI disk? If so, make sure you load the SCSI

I'm not sure I understand the question. As guest will _always_ use a
virtual network, there's no way around that. If your goal is to dedicate
a NIC to a virtual network and then use that virtual network for a
guest, all you have to do is go into the properties of the NIC on the
host and unbind TCP/IP. As long as you leave the Virtual Network
Services service bound to the NIC, it will be available to guests, but
the host won't be able to use it since TCP/IP is not available.

Then follow my instructions regarding unbinding TCP/IP, then create 3
virtual networks, one for each of the 3 physical NICs, and assign a
unique virtual network to each guest.

As long as you follow the same rules you would for real computers,
like all the VM's NICs are on the same subnet, etc, then each VM will
be able to talk to any other computer on the network.

For what you want to do, you don't really need to do any extra
configuration for the virtual networks. They will work like you want
by default. Don't enable the DHCP server on the virtual network.

When I try to install using the ISO image and the Scsi Shunt driver I get
non-system disk or disk error. Replace and strike any key. I downloaded the
32bit R2 Disk 1 and 2, copied them to the virtual machine directory that the
precompact.iso is in so when I went to select my ISO file it was actually
listed.

I have also tried this with an ISO file for the R1 version and got the same
error.

You need to go into the BIOS of the guest and change the boot order so
that it is booting from the CD first rather than from the floppy. Or,
don't mount the floppy until after you've pressed F6.
