VSMT Error

Source: microsoft.public.virtualserver
Sent: 08/03/2006
From: "Charles Blair" <(email address - cut out)>
Message:

I am running VSMT (ADS1.1) to virtualize a server.
My production virtual host in 2003 EE R2 with VS 2005 R2, VSMT Tools, and
conneded/controlled by the ADS server.
I successfully created the scripts and captured the image, but when I run
the <servername>_CreateVM.cmd batch to create the VM on the host, I receive
the following error:

Error: Target VM already exists: <servername>
Error: Result Code: 2
VMClient.exe returned 2

<===Remote job output
Error: Result Code: 8
Error occured, exiting (8)

I have tried reinstalling VSMT on the production virtual host.
I have run the vmclient command string directly on the production virtual
host.
I even tried changing the target servername.
All with the same results.

I ended up changing the scripts to create/deploy the VM on my test virtual
host and it worked fine.

But, I need to find out why I am receiving the error on my production
virtual host and get it fixed.

As another test, I manually created the target VM on my production virtual
host and then ran the <servername>_DeployVM.cmd batch.

The image deployed to the target VM, but then failed on the "copy boot.ini"
command with the following error:

ADS Controller did not recognize the variable Device.User.vVMScriptPath.
The variable could not be found. Use $$ to escape the $ character where
a variable is not intended.

When I set the scripts to bypass the "copy boot.ini" command, I then get the
following error during the "fix drivers and services" job:

ADS Controller did not recognize the variable
Device.User.vWindowsPartition.
The variable could not be found. Use $$ to escape the $ character where
a variable is not intended.

I would really prefer to have my production server working correctly and not
use my test server as proxy.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

TIA

Charles
