Network connectivity problem..repost

I hate to start a new post here, but the my original post is like on page
four and this forum doesn't "bump" posts to the front when you reply to it.

The first paragraph was my original post, and the second was what I posted
the other day.

My physical server has two NICs, the first one is unbound to the virtual
machines, the second one is. In the configuration for the virtual machine
under network adaptors I selected the second NIC in the "connected to" space,
and set the MAC address to static. Both physical cards have a cable
connected and on the physical machine gives no message indicating that the
cable on card 2 is unplugged, but on the virtual server using this NIC when
checking the network adaptor is says the cable is unplugged. so....what
could the problem be? I'm assuming that once I resolve this
problem that I'll be able to add the virtual machines to the domain of the
host server without any further configuration and getting an IP address from
the DHCP server.

On the NIC being used by the host the VMNS box is unchecked while
the others remain checked, for the second NIC to be used by the virtual
machines only the VMNS box is checked and nothing else. For the virtual NIC
in the Virtual machine Client for microsoft, file and print sharing and
TCP/IP are checked. I keep getting the network unplugged message. I just
checked the physical connection and both NICs are connected and showing
activity.
