Installation Error: Setup Interrupted

I am attempting to install VS2K5 on a 2003 Ent Ed. server. It has never had
VS installed on it before.
I follow the promtps in the setup, and after clicking "Intsall", the message
"Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 Setup Wizard could not complete
intstallation" followed by "Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 setup was
interrupted. Your system has not been motified...."

I have tried the following with no success: selecting individual components
to install, logged on as a local admin as well as domain admin, changed the
install path, confirmed that the install file works on another machine,
uninstalled and reinstalled IIS, and yes, even rebotted the server.
I have installed VS in the past but never faced this error.
Any suggestions?

Compare your running services with those on another server that will
run the installation. I recall some dependent services for the original
release installation package - possibly DCOM.

Another employee in the office figured it out. At some point in the past, an
installation was interrupted and some of the registry entries were not
removed. He used a utility to monitor which registry entries VS2K5 were
attempted to add and noticed it kept failing after trying to create a certain
one.
He does not recall which specific regestry entry it was unfortunately so I
can't post it in case anyone else experiences the same problem.
If you do and would like the utility, let me know.

FYI, the event viewer did not show anything releated to the installation
failing. The VS intall log may have, but I honestly couldn't tell from
reading it.
