SuSE and RedHat will not install on MS-VS2005 R2

Source: microsoft.public.virtualserver

Message:

Host OS: Win2003R2, i386 and x64, VS2005-R2
Host OS hardware: new Dell Optiplex GX620, 3.2GHZ, 2GB RAM, DVD-drive.

Installing Win2003-R2 as a guest worked A-OK.

Tried to install linux guests on MSVS-R2, nothing but an empty set. However,
SuSE 9.2, 9.3, 10.0 nor Red Hat Fedora 4 guests would install on either
Windows host platorm as Microsoft said they would.

The installers on both distro's hung at about the 2% mark, then sat there
for eternity. Thinking that the GUI maybe the culprit, I attempted a
character-mode installation. No dice, the installation locked up at the
same point.

So I thought perhaps it was the built-in DVD/CD drive giving me problems?
So I plugged in an external USB Memorex DVD-writer. No luck, same issue.
As a last-ditch effort, I took those install CD's over to a VMWare Server
1.0 Beta test box, and had them installed in under an hour each.

The same results happened at the same time on either the x64 version or the
i386 version of VS-R2/Win2003-R2.

I gave up. Microsoft says they support Linux as a guest, namely the SuSE
9.x & 10.0 variants. I can't get the bloody guests to even install!

Anyone else having problems installing Linux on VSR2?
