Message:I have the same problem but with 32bit W2k3 Enterprise R2 and Virtual Server
2005 R2. The server is a Dual "Dual Core" Intel Xeon 3.2G with 8G of ram.
Whenever I started the VM, the host NIC will lost connection to anything
until I stop the VM or stop Virtual Server Service.
Can someone ( Eric ) post the detail steps on what he did to get around the
problem?
Seriously, I think this is a major bug in MS Virtual Server.

small added informations,
in my server (DELL PowerEdge 2900 w woodcrest Xeon 8 GN RAM, Win 2003 x64) there is 4 NIC
2 are BroadBand Nextreme Gbit
2 are BroadBand Nextreme II Gbit (NDIS VBD CLient)
when a VM use one of the BroadBand Nextreme Gbit, the host keep is network connectivity, but when it uses the "BroadBand Nextreme II Gbit (NDIS VBD CLient)" it loose conenctivity through that NIC

I have the exact same issue... This is starting to point to the
network adapter. I'm going to add a new NIC and test this theory.
I took off the virtual machine and loaded on another VS and it works
correctly.

Message:Same exact problem with Dell PE 1950 with dual port Broadcom BCM5708C
NetXtreme II GigE (NDIS VBD Client) on-board NIC.
I add Intel PRO/1000 PT Server adapter and bind to VM running on VS. Both
host and guest OS are able to conect network.

Message: I have been working with both Dell and Microsoft on this issue and
solved it today. I confirmed that the lack of the Scalable Networking Pack
(SNP) patch
"WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB912222-v9-x64-ENU.exe"
was causing the issue. Installing it fixed the connectivty, and removing it
broke it again. I have yet to test this under 32 bit Windows, but assume
that
"WindowsServer2003-KB912222-v9-x86-ENU.exe"
will fix it there as well. I only installed the SNP, no registry settings
were changed or reconfigured.
I have requested that Microsoft publish a KB article on this issue with the
results of the testing (I just gave the summary here).

FYI, I had the same issue, on a Dell 2900 - Dell has an updated TOE Cd that should be installed as well (updates the TCP/IP Chimney stack for the Broadcom drivers).
Tahnks to all for the tips, saved me a lot of time!

Message:I also have the exact same problem on a Dell PE2950 with integrated Broadcom
BCM5708C. I understand the work around of using both NICs and appreciate
that info. However, my other hosts running x86 Windows use only one NIC, and
I want to do the same for my host running x64. Has anyone found a way to use
a single NIC successfully?
