otherwise I'll ask what is the best way running a virtual machine and having
a firewall controlling this machine's network traffic regardless the
operationg system running on the guest, without having a physical firewall
controlling the host network.

Why don't you just install a firewall on the vpc that you have created or
turn on MS's internal firewall if the guest OS on your vpc is Win XP or Vista
?

I am not sure what you are aiming for here. If you have a hardware or
software firewall protecting your network, then it will protect both the
physical and virtual machines.

If you want some way to firewall your virtual network from the physical
network, you would run a firewall system on a virtual machine which connects
to both these networks. This would not be independent of the OS on this
machine. You would need to run an OS which can run on the x86 platform (eg
Windows or Linux) and install firewall software on that machine.

Were you hoping for something built into each virtual network (like the
DHCP option in Virtual Server)? I don't think that is likely to happen.
