Hi all,

I have a server with several nic's installed. There is one that VS sees but
when attached to a VM it does not pass packets. That is to say that
everything appears to be ok. It shows connected in the guest OS etc. If I
setup the host to use it it works fine, passes traffic, pings etc and it has
been tested in another PC. What the heck????

Is your guest setup to use this correctly? If you only connect this NIC and
it works, but with others connected it doesn't, then the binding order
inside the guest OS is set incorrectly. You can access the binding settings
in Control Panel -> Network Connections, on the Advanced Settings section of
the Advanced menu item on many NT-based OSes

Hm...This one has me scratching my head

Just to eliminate the obvious, can you go to the properties on the NIC,
uninstall the Virtual Machine Network Services, reboot, and then install
them again, pointing to:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Virtual Server\Drivers\VMNetSv

Yes the network work has a DHCP server. I can have the guest set to dhcp or
static ip and the results are the same. If set to dhcp it does not get an

No change. Bummer. Oddly it caused the VS services to stop when I removed
it. I'm to the point that if it did the same thing on the host I'd think
that the PCI slot had developed an issue.
