Hi all:
I am having trouble moving from VPC 6 to 7. The virtual machine of XP
once imported, justs hangs on startup.
I have read the articles that this can take from 10 to 30 minutes, but
have tried this without success.
I have gone back to a backup of XP on VPC 6 for now.
Would like to know if there is some sort of additional method to fix
this problem? Maybe a registry issue with the "upgraded hardware" in
VPC 7 that my XP will not boot due to XP's innate security protocols?
It is a mystery to me for now.

Any help is appreciated,

When you say "hangs on start up", I'm gonna guess you mean that the
mouse and keyboard don't work...

VPC 7.0 uses a different BIOS, so when you import a VPC 6.x image to
VPC 7.0, you have to sit through hardware detection.

Unfortunately, some of the devices re-recognized reqire that the
machine be restarted.

What you need to do is when you get to the point where you should be
able to log in, but can not because the mouse and keyboard do not work,
go to the PC menu and select "Reset". Once the VM reboots, it should
work.
