Hello! I am a new Mac user (from one month) and of course I need the
Office applications (Word, Excel and PP). I already own Microsoft
Office 2003 for PC and I have a CD with Windows XP Home edition from my
laptop. I was wondering can I only buy the Virtual PC software and use
it to run the Office? I really don't feel like giving Microsoft another
$400 for Office 2004 when I can just give $120 for Virtual PC. Thanks.

If you want Office to run and have all the features on the Mac and run
at the speed of your PPC rather than as a Pentium II, buy the MacOS X
version rather than VPC. Unless you have some requirement to run the
Windows version of _anything_, buy the MacOS X native version instead.

If it came with it, its OEM and is only licensed for the hardware it
came with.

Also, depending on the brand of laptop you have, your XP could be
specifically keyed to look for particular hardware on the laptop and
fail to install on any other system.
