When trying to install my first PC program in VPC, I keep having
trouble with the administrative access. The system asks for a
username/password, but when I give it the pass I set up for the Mac, it
is unable to log on. I even went in to System Preferences and changed
the password, but still no luck.

The window also wants to use a username that includes the name of the
machine, e.g.,
"MACHINE/username"

Short version, my known username and pass don't work when trying to
install a Windows program in VPC. Can I turn off the requirement for a
password?

You should be using the Windows administrator account. The Mac's system
preferences are irrelevant.

If your Windows account has administrator privileges, it should be able
to install programs without requiring a password.

This scenario is pretty common when you are trying to install Windows
programs when you are NOT at the Windows desktop.

Launch Virtual PC. Get to the Windows desktop. Insert your application
CD. If there is an autorun file, it will launch and allow you to
install the application. By default, Windows installed with an
administrator account. If you did not create any other user account in
Windows, it will not ask for the admin password on the Windows side.
