Before cutting my veins I have arrived here with not many
expectations. I’ve read through all-human-based-knowledge in internet
(including posts here) but there’s no way to have my VPC running
windows on my PowerBook.

I have copied files from boot disks for win 98 and placed them on the
vpc directory. The cd doesn’t start up, nothing works...all the VPC
keeps telling me is either "Non-System disk or disk error Replace and
press any key..." or "OS not found Install an OS on this hard
drive" and "Reboot and Select proper Boot device"

PLEASE! What can I do?

I only have non-bootables CD’s for win 98, win 98se and win xp.
I’d really appreciate any help.

All legal Windows XP cd's are bootable, unless they are OEM (like the
ones included with VPC) To manually make a hard drive bootable, you
need to boot from a Win98 Startup disk and then at the A:> prompt,
type "sys c:", which will copy the necessary system files to the C:
drive. This is automatically done by the Windows 98 setup.

Copying files does not make anything bootable or install Windows. You
need to install Windows, not just copy files. You need to boot from a
Win98 startup disk, or Win98 Emergency bootdisk, and if necessary,
prepare your virtual hard drive before you can run the Win98 setup
from the cd-rom.

You can get bootable disk images for installing Windows 98 on my
website. Which, with a regular Win98 cd will allow you to install
Windows 98 in VPC. Also, at my website is a PDF that tells you how to
install Windows 98 in VPC 6, which with very minor modifications can
be used for VPC 7 (mostly menu name changes

If you're using a Win98 cd that came with VPC, you cannot do a manual
installation from it, you must import the existing pre-installed
Windows from it.
