VPC 7 - changes not being saved to files on shared folder

I have a strange VPC 7 issue that I need help with. Please note that
this is NOT a Tiger specific issue - it happened with 10.3.8 as well.
So, if anyone here wants to email me directly with a response (if you
feel this is too much off-topic here) please do at: (email address - cut out)

I have VPC7 installed, with Windows 2000 Pro installed. The only
additional app I have installed is HomeSite. I have my Mac source
directory mounted as a shared folder within VPC - to access my html
files.

Basically, what happens is taht about 75-80% of the time, the changes I
make to my files in VPC are not saved! The files are re-saved, but the
changes are not there. On occcassion the changes are saved - but often,
the file is actually corrupted as if it took part of the change, but
not all.

The file date stamp is updated, and your changes "appear" to have been
made in the window you're looking at, but when the file is closed and
re-opend, viola! all the old contents are still there. Or at least,
some if it is. I've tried WordPad and NotePad too with the same results
- so this is not a Homesite issue in VPC.

What's even stranger is that if I copy the files locally to the VPC
desktop, the changes are made and saved just fine - but then if I try
to copy them back to their Mac directories over the top of the old
files they don't even copy back! They look like they do, file date
stamps are updated and no error messages arise, but if you open the
file, it's still the old file. You have to manually delete the old
files first and then copy the new files into the directories.

This is all very odd to me and obviously isn't right. Has anyone else
seen anything like this - or have any idea what to look at? I've
completely opened permissions on all files - but if it was a
permissions problem, I should be getting an error message, not have it
look like it all works fine.

Hope this description makes sense.

Thanks.
