I bought a Mac G5 and want to upgrade from my old VPC 6.1 to the
G5-compatible version, but (since 6.1 won't load on the G5) am
reluctant to pay for the upgrade without knowing I can activate it with
my old software info. Will that work, or is there another way to do it?

Yes, it will work for you.

You will need to extract the Windows image file from the VPC6 CD, then
"Import from a previous version"

The image file is not readily extractible from the VPC5 bundle like it is in
VPC6. You need to install VPC5 first. Once installed, you can find the
Windows image in the Virtual PC5 folder (I believe the folder installs in
your Applications).
