I have a new copy of VPC 7 (full version from Ofc Pro) and I've
imported a WinXP Pro virtual machine created in VPC 6 on a PC. WinXP
runs, but it's slow as molasses, so I'm guessing the VPC 7 additions
aren't installed during the import. Unfortunately, when I select
"Install or Update Additions" from the VPC menu, VPC asks me to locate
the additions cd image. I have no clue where this image is, can't find
it on the installation cds, can't find it on any MS web site either.
Does anybody have an idea where the additions cd image is in the Ofc
Pro package?

Incidently, I also have a VPC 7 upgrade that I ordered months ago for
another Mac and finally arrived at about the same time as Ofc Pro.
I've upgraded VPC 6 to VPC 7 on that box and imported the same virtual
machine from the PC version of VPC. When I select "Install or Update
Additions" from the VPC menu in the upgrade package, VPC just goes
ahead and does it, never asks me to locate the additions cd image.

Try repairing permissions on your machine...
It should be located in the VM bundle/package.

I did eventually find the additions iso in the pkg file, copied it out
to another folder. When I again tried to update the additions in my
vm, selecting the pkg file copy, vpc said it couldn't update the
additions because a newer version was already installed. I suspect
that vpc had in fact found the original additions iso, but ignored it
and prompted me to browse to another iso because the installed
additions were "newer". The "newer" additions most likely came from
vpc 6 sp1 (the pc version).

I subsequently uninstalled the additions using the WXP control panel,
then installed the Mac vpc additions. Never did get it working right
though, kept getting an error about a printer during the additions
installlation and the mouse action suggested the additions weren't
really installed, even though the installation program claimed to have
finished successfully. I gave up and worked around the problem
eventually by starting with a clean WXP vm and reinstalling all of my
Windows apps.

I've been using vpc since version 4 and while there have been huge
improvements made in the application, problems with additions seem to
have persisted in both the Mac and PC versions. MS: Consider this a
feature request and give us a reliable, thorough procedure for
uninstalling additions, one that works even when a vm has been shuttled
back and forth between a Mac and a PC. Maybe something like the old
"Regclean" app for Office.
