New bigger virtual drive is slower than original smaller one

So I created a new 5GB Virtual Drive, and using Ghost, copied the
contents of my old 2GB Virtual Drive.

VPC/Windows boots up and everything, but it is EXTREMELY SLOOOOOOOW,
much slower than the original drive was.

I would think that more disk space would increase performance. Does
anyone know what may be causing this and if there is anything I can do
about it?

Also, what is the best way to determine optimal RAM setting in the
Virtual machine, beyond trial & error? I am running a 1.33 Ghz
PowerBook w/1 GB RAM installed. I have VPC 6.1.1 Windows 2000 Pro -
any ideas on optimal RAM settings for this configuration?
