Does anyone know if it would be possible to take an RS-232 device,
convert it to USB, and have it run through VPC 7 ? Would I need
additional USB drivers to accomplish this?

Hey Steve,

The device is an interface for a DDR (digital disk recorder) that
allows you to upload/download time cues from your PC to the controller
(TDC-100). I've attained the following cable:

RS232 INTERFACE CABLE (FOR PC UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD OF CUES)
TDC-100 RS232/GPI PC COM PORT
DB-15 MALE DB-9 FEMALE
PIN 1 SIGNAL GROUND PIN 5
PIN 2 DATA FROM PC TO TDC-100 PIN 3
PIN 3 DATA FROM TDC-100 TO PC PIN 2

I would need to convert the 9 pin to USB for use with my Mac. WMy
question is whether or not VPC would recognize this hardware on a com
port?

Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again.

I use the Keyspan USB High Speed Serial Adapter to transfer info to and from
a GPS and it works fine.

In your case you should be able to use this device to communicate with your
DDR however timing may be critical for your application otherwise it is a no
hassle solution.
