Cannot Create New W2K disk - Help!

In a hard drive meltdown, I lost files, including my VPC disk image for
Windows2000. I'm trying to create a new one, but have a problem.

When I have a disk image and am installing W2K on it, I run into a block -
the installation says it can't install on a compressed disk or compressed
image.... I tried on a dynamic-sized disk image and on a fixed one and got
the same error.

Are there ways to avoid this?
